Ce manque d’information a des conséquences importantes sur leur santé physique, mentale et sociale. Valentin Aziagbe, responsable du programme de santé scolaire de "La chaine de l'Espoir", est notre invité. Abstract: The aim is to remove the taboo surrounding menstruation, which remains a highly stigmatized subject for young girls. “They have very little information about menstruation, even from their mothers. When it happens to them, they’re surprised. They may take it as an illness, or even a curse, explains Valentin Aziagbe, head of the School Health Program in Togo. Many use improvised materials, such as paper or cotton, which can cause irritation and even gynecological infections. All this could be avoided if they had the right information and hygiene kits.” These actions also help to combat absenteeism. ” According to our survey, 23% of Togolese girls lose days of school because of their periods, which has a real impact on their performance at school”, confirms Valentin Aziagbe.
